Christians of every age, gender, background and maturity-level struggle with God’s will and purpose for their lives. Few churches prioritize the need for every person to discover and develop their unique purpose, or if they do, they fail to develop a culture for every person to feel vested beyond a worship service, volunteer job, or even leadership role. Nothing wrong with leading small groups or directing parking lot traffic on Sunday mornings, but is that really why God gave us His Spirit and made us co-heirs with Christ and partakers of His Divine nature (Ro 8:17 and 2 Pe 1:4).
God the Father adopted us to be His sons and daughters, through Jesus, to be joint heirs, co-laborers, and to together become a distinct culture set apart for His purposes and plan in our world.
Ephesians 4 clearly defines the role of church leaders to “equip the believer for the work of ministry.” It never has been God’s plan for a select few with the right personality, education, or ‘giftedness’ to fulfill the Great Commission “to make disciples of all nations.” The Great Commission applies to every believer, not just ‘the professionals.’
1. Embracing our identities as sons and daughters.
2. Following Jesus, both his commands and his example.
3. Empowering believers to know their purpose and walk it out, together.
4. Engage with God’s Harvest people anywhere and everywhere we go.
