We are a non-denominational Protestant Christian church that believes the Holy Spirit works today like He did in the New Testament, since God does not change.
We believe in the final authority of the canonical Bible, salvation by grace, and the importance of spreading that Good News message to others.
We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy universal church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and everlasting life. Amen.
In all matters that are clearly defined, explained, and taught in the Bible, we maintain them as essential. While we respect and admire the progress of the study of theology in church history, we define other matters of personal doctrinal or theological convictions including young/old Creation, Calvinism, dispensationalism, specifics of eschatology, etc. as non-essential.
We believe that there is room at the table for believers who hold diverse opinions on non-essential doctrines to worship and fellowship with one another, so long as there is unity on the essentials. Love and mutual respect for one another must be preeminent (John 13:35 & 1 Cor 13).
Growing in spiritual maturity and character; intimacy and communion with God; discovering and walking in God’s purposes; and all practical matters of faith and godliness are the primary focus of our teaching, preaching, and studies together.
While we will engage with the and grapple with the big questions of faith and theology as need arises, if you are looking for a church that has a firm Calvinistic, dispensational, or other denominational doctrinal leaning, you will not find that at Disciple Life.
